Inga Swenson, Tony award-winning actress and lyric soprano who starred in TV classics like North and South, Soap, Lipstick and of course the kitchen comedy masterpiece BENSON! On Benson, Inga played German cook (who was later promoted to director of something) Gretchen who didn’t give a schnitzel and regularly served up bitchery while flipping the locks of her Toni Tennille mop. To this day, I thought Inga was an authentic Swedish Berry who rolled out of a Maynards bag onto the streets of Hollywood one night. But Inga is as American as braille on a drive-up ATM machine. I mean, she was born in Nebraska! Inga totally had my ass fooled.
