Jill Clayburgh Has Passed Away

When a few people wrote me to tell me that Jill Clayburgh passed away yesterday, I was like, “She was in Running with Scissors! And Nip/Tuck! And An Unmarried Woman! And Starting Over! And this 70s TV movie my ass has watched a few times called Hustling! And Dirty Sexy Money (yes, I watched that from beginning to end)!” Sadly, Jill Clayburgh, who was in everything, died last night at her home in Lakeville, Conn. while surrounded by her family and friends. Jill’s husband, playwright David Rabe, said that she battled chronic lymphocytic leukemia for 21 years. Jill was only 66.

The Associated Press has a very thorough obituary for Jill where they also mention that she played Ally McBeal’s mother. See, EVERYTHING! Jill was also be seen playing Jakey Gyllenhaal’s mother in Love and Other Drugs, which comes out in a couple of weeks.

Jill is survived by her husband and her three children.

Rest in peace, Jill…. Now I need to go track down a copy of Hustling….
