Ellen Degeneres crossed the picket lines on Tuesday to tape her talk show. Letterman, Leno, Stewart and O'Brien have all shut down their shows to support the writer's strike.
Ellen told her audience, "I want to say I love my writers. I love them. In honor of them today, I'm not going to do a monologue. I support them and hope that they get everything they're asking for. And I hope it works out soon. In the meantime, people have traveled across the country. They've made plans. They're here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show."
Speaking of Ellen's writers, one of them is spilling the beans. A writer from Ellen's 2001 "The Ellen Show" wrote some interesting tidbits on his blog, Surgical Strikes .
He wrote that Ellen hissed at them several times to write her funnier jokes. She would keep smiling for the cameras, but as soon as they turned off her face would fall and she'd snap at them. The Ellen Show was cancelled early on and the blogger claims she might have blamed it on 9/11.
He went on to say, "I'm disappointed in Ellen [for crossing the picket line] but not surprised . . . given what I've seen from her with my own two eyes."
Another TV insider told Page Six , "This is her last chance in show business. This show is the only thing keeping her from a lifetime of touring college campuses."
Harsh. No love for the lesbo. Whenever you're in a position of fame or power stories like this shit are always going to come out. Don't you sort of have to be a bitch sometimes in order to make it in Hollywood? Ellen is a fake and a phoney, but she's playing a character on TV. They all are!
