Lawsuits Make The World Go ‘Round

File this under: Someone's Trying To Get Paid! Kia Vaughn is one of the star players for the Rutger's Women's Basketball team and she has filed a civil lawsuit against Don Imus and several media companies for libel, slander and defamation. She is asking for an unspecified  amount of cash.

Don Imus lost his job for calling the basketball team a bunch of "nappy-headed hos." He later settled with CBS for a reported $20 Million.

Kia's lawyer said, "This is a lawsuit in order to restore the good name and reputation of my client, Kia Vaughn. There's no way these bigoted remarks should have seen the light of day. Don Imus referred to my client as an unchaste woman. That was and is a lie."

Her lawyer went on to say that if they won, some of the money would be used to create a scholarship program to study the effects of bigoted and misogynistic speech on society.

You know what I'm going to say. If I was sued everytime I called someone a name or I sued for everytime someone called me a name, the banks would have to shut down. There would be so much money coming in and out that they wouldn't be able to handle it.

It sounds like the "ho" part is what upset Kia the most. To me the other part is worse and that's what made the comment moronic and racist.

I don't blame a ho a girl for trying, but she just needs to make peace with the situation and move on with her life. Nobody thinks she's a slut, because nobody knows who she is!
